    lubricating manual shift linkage

Over the past year or so, I've noticed a subtle but steady increase in the effort required to shift gears. It's not the synchros, as it goes into gear fine, but it's not as easy to make the throws, and not as smooth as it used to be. It's also not bad, but the old liquid smoothness has declined. I replaced the fluid with Honda MTF, and the clutch is adjusted correctly, so that leaves the linkage, I guess. Can I get at whatever's necessary from under the car, or do I have to take off the boot and go down from the top, or both. Thx.

you should also put in the polyurethane shifter bushings while you are at it. they are only like 12 bucks.

you can get busings anywere. online or local autoparts store.
you probably will want to remove the boot and drop the exhaust heat shield to get to the shifter.
you may also want to buy some plastic bushings. i changed on mine and the travel went down by a lot. it is a lot more presize and smoother.

Its the crx shift bushings that work.

My boot is bad where the rod goes into the tranny I use white grease on it when I change the oil.

If the stupid torque rod that runs along the shifter rod has been hit it could rub it some as well.

Can this be changed from the inside or do you have to have a hoist?

I was looking on the Energy Suspension website to verify the part numbers before ordering and noticed that the 16.1101 is only listed for the 93-97 Civic Del Sol VTEC and the 99-00 Civic Si (VTEC). The 16.1102 is listed for all of the other models.

Are you certain it's the 16.1101? The shipping for me from http://www.inlinefour.com/ensusshifsta.html is as much as the product, so I'd like to avoid paying it twice if I can.

Thanks. I found another site with photos and now that I see both it's obvious. I wasn't thinking how large the pin on the bellhousing is.
