Thumbs up The best 6x9's made

And they're mine... all mine! :cool2:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=14942

Since nobody seemed to have any 6 1/2 inch rear speaker housings for me, I decided to go with the best 6x9's that money can buy. These will complement a set of Boston Acoustics RC61 components up front with the four speakers driven by a Fosgate 4080dsm. Two Boston Pro 12.5LF subs will pound in the trunk driven by a Fosgate 500M.
Now I just have to find a punch link for my old school amps and decide which deck to go with and I will be ready for the massive install. I currently have a Kenwood eXcelon KDC-X715 in there, and I may just keep it and add a 20 gig music keg for MP3 capability.

I don't know about the best. But all together you should have a pretty decent system.
Those music kegs are pretty nice add on, but pricy.

Yeah not the best 6x9's, but not bad. Like Kroy said, the music keg from kenwood, have you ever actually seen one? I have, and i have no idea where the hell I would put it at, its taller than amp so you probably wouldnt be able to fit it under any seat, and you need to put it somewhere easily accessible so you can take out the memory card or whatever it uses to store data. Personally I wouldnt get it because its not worth the trouble, might as well burn CD's.
Thinking about getting a new 3g...

OK, maybe I am a bit biased being a big Boston fan, but I have yet to hear any 6x9's produce a more accurate sound than these. Like I said in a previous post, I would prefer to go with 6 1/2's in back because a round woofer will always produce a more accurate sound, so maybe down the road I will find what I need in a yard somewhere.

I have heard MB Quart and they don't offer anything too high end in a 6x9. I don't blame them, few companies do as they see it as a waste of money to develop anything too high end in this area. Any true audiophile is going to look at replacing the oblong design before spending $400 on a set of non-round drivers.

I will admit that I have never specifically listened to Memphis 6x9 speakers, but I was not very impressed with the clarity of their 6 1/2 inch components, so I can't belive that they would drift any higher sq wise with their 6x9 counterparts. Not that I'm knocking them for what they are... Memphis just isn't one of those brands that comes to mind when I think about sound quality like Boston, MB Quart, Diamond, A/D/S/, etc.

You want the best 6x9 speakers on the market, go for the Infinity 3-way Kappa series man, you won't turn back on them once you've heard them I assure you.

That's got to be the cleanest living DX I've ever seen.

A friend of mine has JL 6x9's in the rear deck of his car, the sound pretty good, but seem to be lacking alot on the low-end, at least compared to my Infinities....

Yea bostons and focals are nice. I personally think mb quart is overrated but nonetheless very good. Infinity kappas are nice but i think a little on the harsh side depending on your amp... Polk's are surprisingly nice. Ive had JBL too and they sounded like ass.

I cant believe no one has mentioned BOSE!!! I've never heard of any of their high end stuff, but BOSE is in my parents Caddy and damn they sound good. If I could do it over again I would have gone with them instead of MB Quart. But im still happy with my Quarts

True, they do look nice if you like that sort of thing. And true, they aren't the best (they aren't even a quarter of the way there). I personally think Sony is right up there (or down) with Pyle, Pyramid, and Legacy. Most, if not all, of there product sucks. I know, unfortunately I worked for Circuit City for quite a while selling that stuff. Bleah. I wish I could have told customers to get something better than Sony, but I rarely got the chance.

And to the reply made by MoodyBluesr: The Memphis speakers that I heard were their new 3 way components (woof-mid-tweet), and my god... I almost wet myself. I thought my Alpine X-type 2-way components were good, but they were off by a lot. Oh yeah, I did forget all about A/D/S/, Diamond, and Focal. Silly me.

 I want nicer speakers, now. But I want to lower my car too... Decisions, decisions...
