un-motivated!
someone make me an offer i just could not say no to.

To run a decent 1/4mile time you really need to shed the weight in anyway you can!! Not sure which one is the lightest out of the 3geez? Coupe or Hatch or Aerodeck? But my 2G lude weighs in at 900kg with fuel and i still haven't gone hardcore with the weight saving and the fastest 1/4 mile is 14.5 with 195/50/15 road tyres (goodyear Eagle F1 GDS3) with some 205/50/15 semi slicks would be much quicker as i get very little traction in first 2 gears and have to really be gentle on the throttle!!
This weekend gone ran a new PB
14.13 seconds at 99.97mph terminal speed!!
Old time 14.5 at 94mph so well chuffed!
This was on street tyres orientated for wet weather rather than dry! and were 195/50/15 so bit small on width and diameter need some drag tyres really!
Will post timing slip up when I get a chance was run at Santa Pod so timing kit is precise as precise can get!! :0)
My personal best as of last week
1989 LX-i Auto 4dr, 135K miles; bought from the original owner. All stock and maintained, that's about it. She's a consistent little bugger in the brackets, that's for sure.

The auto just KILLS the 60' times, on a more normal night I am usually ~2.8 in the 60 and ~18.7 in the 1/4. I think the big problem with the auto is the torque converter, on these cars it is about the size of the moon. When I pull out from a stop onto a main road it can be scary for the first 2 seconds or so. Also keep in mind my auto tranny is out of adjustment, shifts ~600 before redline in 1st, and 200 before in all the other gears. Also shifts pause and then "grab" the gear. All that is a project for this weekend, though. Fingers crossed! The only consolation is I'm not the slowest one on the track, that dubious honor belongs to my friend Bill's 19.8 second Ford Tempo. Sorry for the long post.
I do foot brake it a little, but I don't do it with my foot to the floor. I guess I should update my times, anyway. The car has improved from a regular 18.7 and a best of 18.4 to a regular of ~18.18, and a best of ??? (haven't had an outlier yet).
I adjusted the valves (they were way too tight) and I fixed the bypass control solenoid.
I remember from way back, I used to pull off my PS belt when I made passes, and that was worth 2 tenths improvement alone! I still think your car should be faster than 18 sec 1/4 mi times

I ran my best last weekend, 17.91 at 75! I usually run it fully warmed up so its consistent, but I decided to try for my best (engine was stone cold). I dunno, it feels like it's doing about all it can. My friend has an automatic xB with 108hp, it runs about the same times (18.1) but it weighs like ~350 lbs less.
stock bottom end, port n polished head, delta 272 cam at the time, t3 saab turbo at the time, b18 intakemanifold and tb, homemade log manifold, open 3in. downpipe, rising rate fmu as fuel management, 390cc injectors with adjustable fuel regulator, 205/35/17 tires, oh and piece of shit automatic transmission that wouldnt shift into 4th so had to hold 3rd gear thru finish line, 10-11 lbs of boost.

^ any idea on how much power you're making?
I did one of the online power calculations. Assuming a 2300 pound car, which is probably on the light side, the car makes about 160 HP. That's not taking drag into account, though.
not sure on how much power im making, one of these days i might go to a dyno when i get everything straightened out. but i can tell u im making more than 160 hp lol. those calculators are best case scenario, assuming everything is completely right with slicks, and also those calculators are completely incorrect with turbo cars... and yea i have the shift rods and pedal clusters for the 5 speed swap, just waiting on money to get clutch kit, tranny, and cv joints.
14.4 sec for a quarter mile...i feel like my gsr is putting me in the 15s and im pushing 159whp. he must me making around 170-180. he might benefit to switching to a manual trans.

Redzone tuned
I think I underestimated the weight by quite a bit.

agreeed
but i actually got the air/fuel ratio dialed almost dead on, its pretty consistant 11.0 on the wideband throughout boost.
but on the the tune is whats killing me is not being able to adjust the timing throughout the band, so i just have the distributor set retarded. with a btm or something i could probably benefit massively
Or a MegaJolt setup.
Megajolt is for carbureted cars. It only controls ignition. Megasquirt is what you want for a fuel injected car. No reason to do 90% of the work for 30% of the benefit.

yea i remember reading your old posts and setup when i was starting mine a little over a year or two years ago.. pretty similar setups from what i remember minus the btm and 5 speed.
wasnt u running well into the 13's with shitty traction on like 12 lbs of boost???
and yea i keep a close eye on that wideband, widebands are pretty much the shit... helps diagnose problems too.
but as far as right now im fine with the setup, i just want to get all the kinks and shit worked out and get the 5 speed swapped in and see what i can run with some slicks..ive been experimenting mass with different combinations that i have, like trying the smaller saab turbo or the svo mustang turbo with the smaller exhaust housing with the three cams i have (stock, delta 272, colt stage 2 triflow), and so far what im liking the most and im currently using is the svo turbo with the stage 2 colt cam...
But later down the road im sure ill be lookin more into either megasquirt or obd1 swap.
yeah mid 13s (garbage 2.1-2.2 60 fts on stock 195 60 14 all seasons)on about 13psi boost/stock engine. I ran an svo turbo/thunderbird turbo coupe garret t3 60/63 for that setup and it worked very well. in any event i def highly reccomend the obd1 swap. speaking of which, mods can you update the first post? I should be the second time under johnny o....
